HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood has named Amy Zukowski as Finance Director. Zukowski was chosen as the next Finance Director by Village Manager Napoleon Haney following the retirement of 23-year Village of Homewood staff member Dennis Bubenik. Bubenik served as Finance Director beginning in 2000 before announcing his retirement in early March. The Finance Director plays a critical role in the success of municipal financial operations both from an internal and external perspective.
“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the next Finance Director for the Village of Homewood,” said Zukowski. “Having worked for the Village and closely with Dennis Bubenik over the last 15 years, I am prepared to ensure that the Village remains in a strong fiscal position.”
Zukowski will oversee the Finance Department operations, which includes the day-to-day financial operations, preparation of the annual audit and budget, financial projections & reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, and purchasing. In addition to Zukowski, the Finance Department currently consists of 4 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee.
Zukowski began her career in public accounting as an auditor in 2004. Since joining the Village of Homewood in 2008 as a Senior Accountant, Zukowski has played a critical role in the financial administration of the Village. In 2016, Zukowski was promoted to Assistant Finance Director where she had the opportunity to take on additional roles that spanned across multiple departments, including employee benefit administration and coordinating the Village’s risk management program. Zukowski graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration.
“I wholeheartedly believe that Amy is going to be a critical and complementary part of our Finance team,” Village Manager Napoleon Haney said. “She has the institutional knowledge of Homewood that will propel her to be successful in years to come.”
Zukowski will take her Oath of Office before the Village Board and residents at the June 13 Village Board Meeting at 7 p.m. The Village of Homewood is actively recruiting for the Assistant Finance Director position.
