The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands announced the appointment of Ms. Dernelle Williams to the post of Finance Manager in the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department (Treasury) within the Ministry of Finance, Investment, and Trade.
Williams, in commenting on her appointment, stated: “It is with a deep sense of gratitude and pride that I assume the role of Finance Manager in the Ministry of Finance Investment and Trade. I look forward to further growing my knowledge with the Ministry of Finance and by extension the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service. I would also like to thank the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment and the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service for their continuous support. “Your talent determines what you can do. Acting Governor and Head of the Public Service, Her Excellency Anya Williams, in extending congratulatory remarks to Williams, stated: “It gives me great pleasure to officially announce and to congratulate Ms. Dernelle Williams in her appointment as Finance Manager. Finance Managers are critical to the effective execution, management, and integrity of our financial systems. Over the course of her career with TCIG, Ms. Williams has developed key leadership skills, accountability, the ability to build a team and maintain confidentiality and accuracy of financial records. Ms. Williams has proven to be an invaluable asset to the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department (Treasury), and I believe her experience in being called on to assist with various projects and large assignments speaks to her ability to effectively lead a team and continue to excel within the public service. Williams holds an Associate and Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College.
She joined the Turks and Caicos Islands Public Service in 2012 as an Accounts Officer within the Payroll Unit of the then Accountant General Department. With that appointment Ms. Williams was responsible for the critical task of processing, disbursing, and all reporting functions related to payroll for the entire public service.
In 2019, Williams was promoted to the role of Senior Finance Officer within the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department (Treasury) where she was responsible for overseeing and managing the financial processes for various ministries throughout the public service to ensure compliance with TCIG budgetary and financial policies such as revenue generation, cost savings and delivery of other budget targets.
